Good discussion. I've heard similar topics being discussed inside Intel IT organization. Our strategy is to build private cloud and use public cloud for applications that are not differentiated services and low risk (ie expense reporting).
If you are interested, read more about Intel IT enterprise cloud strategy in this whitepaper.

I totally agree with blogbrevity - i think it's a red flag if someone claims to be an expert. The best part (and the totally unique part) of social media is that it is changing constantly - there is no way to know everything there is to know about it. Steward or Agent I think are much better terms to describe someone that understands SM.

[...] Compliance is a key driver for deployment of IT security controls, and many organizations are pursuing automation to improve accuracy and lower costs of fulfilling requirements. Automating controls is not just laudable – it’s essential for finding and fixing a myriad of vulnerabilities that enable criminals to breach enterprise IT, disrupt electronic business processes, and steal confidential business and customer data. But automation alone is not a panacea for compliance. Organizations must also associate deployment of automated security solutions with common sense operational strategies to ensure success.
The problem for us... we are a small company, there are so many different social networks.. how are we meant to keep all this conversation together. Its like being on the phone to 20 people at the same time. If we could bring it all together and update our blog/tweets/status from one location then all this would work for us
