Twitter Now Serving Free Ads For Third Party Apps

TechCrunch:Twitter serving up free ads
This is a nice way to gauge the click-through rates on ads placed in this manner. These third party applications may not be making a lot of money at this point but with free promotion (for the time being) they can grow in popularity and eventually monetize. Giving them free ad space also makes sense in that those services can grow to become part of the Twitter infrastructure thus making it easier to use and eventually of indispensable utility. It’s a nice symbiotic relationship than can eventually help monetize all services and create said opportunities for the users as well.
